Japanese Beetles…grrrrrr at them….such a pain….they can devour a plant in no time!

Using traps designed with pheromones that attract the beetles, only does just that…attracts them….and you’ll have more beetles than you started with…if you want to have a successful trap, put it in your neighbors yard. :P

A less simple but more effective solution is to hand-pick them…..fill a bucket with soapy water….the best time of day is early morning when the beetles are still sluggish…..hand-pick them from your plant and put them in the soapy water….you’ll soon have beetle free plants.

Japanese beetles start as grub worms…..cut-out a 10″X10″ square of your lawn….if there are more than 5 grub worms, you have a grubworm/beetle problem….using milky spore can kill the grubs, thus reducing/eradicating your future beetle problems.

My roses are blooming. Actually they are bursting with blooms. Each one has bunches of buds this year, and they smell wonderful.

Here is one of my favorite Spring garden pics…

May was a rainy month this year. The gardens greened-up well; although I did find powdery mildew on my BeeBalm, which I’m attributing to the rainy weather. I’m not doing anything for it yet, as hopefully with the weather warming and more sunshine they will overcome it on their own. I am watching daily to see if I need to doctor them.

I’m afraid I’ve neglected this Blog recently, as much of my time has been spent in the gardens. I do have the laptop though and have though of taking it with me so I can make notes right in my Blog, as I garden.

I will endeavor to make a post update this evening, on todays gardening activities.

It was a lovely day today. Blooming today were hyacinth, daffodils, tulips, siberian bugloss, pasque flowers, forsythia, rhododendron….

Tomorrow is supposed to be an even lovelier day!
